MILLBROOK- When Christopher Ricozzi, 14, visits The Fountains at Millbrook, it is like a celebrity has arrived. Ricozzi is famous among the residents, who look forward to spending time and sharing stories with him. Some even consider Ricozzi to be the Watermark retirement community’s collective grandchild.
“The residents and associates are part of our family now,” said Amber Ricozzi, 44. “We have so much fun with the residents, they are hilarious, and Chris often talks about how much he enjoys interacting with them. It helps him stay close with his grandmother, too, and she loves showing him off to the community.”
Polzella is thrilled that her daughter and grandson host the weekly game night for the residents.
“I love that my family visits so frequently, and with hosting game night I’m guaranteed to see them at least once a week,” said Polzella. “Chris is such a good kid. The other residents love him, and he loves them, too.”
Besides Thursday game nights, the Ricozzis volunteer at events such as the community’s New Year’s Eve party and the craft times. About once a month, the Ricozzis lead the craft session by producing ideas and bringing supplies.
“We feel as though we have adopted the Ricozzis,” said Lisa Rieckermann, Community Life Director at The Fountains at Millbrook. “We welcome families to build special, intergenerational bonds with their loved ones and all the residents at the community. Participating in the events is a great way to do this.”
