Wappinger and Beacon school budgets approved

DUTCHESS COUNTY – The preliminary results have been tallied for Tuesday’s school district votes in the Wappingers Central School District and the Beacon City School District.  The results are below.

The 2024-25 Beacon City School Budget was adopted by a vote of 720 to 244. The electric bus proposition was approved by 595 to 364. The bus purchase proposal passed 668 to 289 and the capital budget passed by a margin if 711 to 244.  The top three vote-getters and winners in the board of education elections were Flora Stadler with 695 votes, Lavonne McNair with 657 votes and Chris Lewine with 596 votes.

Voters in the Wappingers Central School District approved their 2024-25 budget by a vote of 1,984 to 788.  Proposition 2 (bus), passed by 1,929 to 840.  School board candidates polled: Michael McFarland – 2,116; John Morgan – 2,055; Virgil Capollari – 2,005; and Christopher Costabile – 944.
