TOWN OF WALLKILL – State Police are investigating how a person ended up being struck and killed on Route 211 in the busy shopping center area of the Town of Wallkill at around 11 p.m. Friday.
Troopers on the scene confirm a female pedestrian was hit by a Ford Escape SUV and pronounced dead in the westbound lanes. The vehicle remained on the scene.
Police were seen interviewing witnesses.
Route 211 is a divided road with three lanes in each direction. Police had the westbound lanes closed until well past midnight while they conducted their investigation.
