CARMEL – The Carmel Rotary Club has announced that Eric Gross will be honored at the upcoming annual Scholarship Golf Outing for his outstanding contributions in “Keeping Local News Alive”.

Gross, a dedicated professional who worked for the Carmel Central School District from 1965 to 1998 as a speech therapist and public relations coordinator, has left a lasting impact on the community.  His extensive experience as a news director for WPUT in Brewster and contributions to various news outlets such as WHUD, WVIP, and NewsRadio 88 in New York City have solidified his reputation as a respected journalist.

His written work, published in reputable publications like the Associated Press, the NY Post, and the Columbia Journalism Review, showcases his commitment to quality journalism.  With over 75,000 stories contributed to the Putnam County Courier since 1966, Gross has been a pillar of the local news scene.  His presence at Putnam events and his columns that shine a light on the positive contributions of individuals and organizations in the area have not gone unnoticed.  Through his work, he has highlighted the best of our schools, community groups, and non-profit organizations, embodying the Rotary motto of ‘Service Above Self’.

The Rotary said, “It is with great pleasure that we acknowledge and celebrate Eric Gross at this year’s Scholarship Golf Outing, where funds raised will go towards supporting deserving Carmel HS students who exemplify the spirit of community service.”
