BREWSTER- The Green Chimneys Institute, a global leader in animal-assisted therapy and educational activities for children with special needs, on Monday welcomed visiting humane education pioneer Pei Su to discuss policy development in human-animal interaction.
The meeting is a long-anticipated coming together of colleagues. Pei Su and Green Chimneys Institute are driven by a shared philosophy of promoting education into the relationships between humans, animals and the environment. Pei Su is Founder and CEO of ACTAsia, a charity which promotes education globally to foster compassion for animals and humans, and respect for the environment. Her visit follows the recent launch of her book, Life of Pei, The Battle for Compassion, in the United States.
Life of Pei: The Battle for Compassion is the inspiring story of Pei Su, whose passion for animal welfare and environmental sustainability helped her overcome her harsh upbringing under military rule in Taiwan, pursue a career in animal welfare overseas, and ultimately create a multi-award-winning international humane education charity: ACTAsia. ACTAsia has since received Special Consultative Status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
