PUTNAM VALLEY – A 67-year-old man was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center on Saturday morning after being involved in a motorcycle accident on Barger Street in Putnam Valley.  The 10:20 a.m. accident occurred near the intersection of Barger Street and Florence Road.

Putnam County Sheriff Kevin McConville said his deputies responded to the reported accident and found Yorktown Heights resident Thomas Blanco lying in the roadway.  An eyewitness indicated that Blanco had made a left turn onto Barger Street from Florence Road and was heading south when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the motorcycle and the bike landed on its side.

Blanco was “in and out of consciousness,” according to the sheriff, and a helicopter was requested to expedite the transport of the victim.

Members of the Putnam Valley Fire Department established a landing zone on the Bryant Pond Road overpass of the Taconic State Parkway.  Blanco was flown to Westchester Medical Center where he remains.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.
