NEWBURGH- The City of Newburgh will begin its annual fire hydrant flushing program throughout the City beginning on Monday, April 15, 2024. This process will take between two and three weeks to complete.

Hydrant flushing ensures hydrants are in working order for fire protection and to remove mineral deposits that accumulate in the water distribution system.

Hydrant flushing is a controlled procedure for the general maintenance of the city’s water distribution system.  During the flushing process, residents may notice a water discoloration or change in water pressure from tie to time.  Residents are also reminded to use caution when approaching flushing operators and to limit water use when operations are taking place in their neighborhood.
