Sullivan County Partnership Economic Summit at the Kartrite

TOWN OF THOMPSON – The economy of Sullivan County is looking up, according to county and economic development officials.

The Sullivan County Partnership for Economic Development held its annual Economic Summit at the Kartrite Water Park in the Town of Thompson on Wednesday and its president Marc Baez said the county has a bright future.

“Our tourism is up, our economic development is up, our sales taxes are up, so there’s a positive outlook. What we’ve done at the Partnership is we’ve created a situation where we are preparing ourselves for what can be,” he said.
County Legislature Chairwoman Nadia Rajsz said the legislature is all in on encouraging economic development.
“We need our youth to remain here, we need housing, and we need diverse economic development. With all of these partners helping us, we will get there and now is the time to start and the county is investing in all of this for the future of the county,” she said.
In recent years, Sullivan County has experienced among the lowest unemployment rates and highest job growth rates.
