ELLENVILLE – Ulster County BOCES has a program called Pre-University/New Visions Pathways aimed at placing high school seniors beside local
professionals to help college-bound students make better choices on their career paths.

The programs they offer are in advanced robotics and engineering, music and auto audio engineering, education, and health.

Seventeen-year-old Ren Anderson attends Ellenville High School and is interested in becoming a physical therapist.

“I’m seeing kind of like the full picture of it in a way that I never expected to when I came here, like the true base today making sure everybody is safe and healthy,” she said.

BOCES partners with local businesses to be part of the program. Assistant Principal, Steve Casa said there are advantages that businesses will have if they participate.

Ellenville Regional Hospital is one of the businesses that is working with Ulster BOCES to give students interested in the health industry a chance to get a first-hand look. They even get a white coat to wear free of charge.

Licensed physical therapist Sang Lee explains to Anderson about the equipment that is used in the rehab center at the hospital.

Casa says that the program is looking for business partners.
