GOSHEN – A 22-year-old Walden man was sentenced in Orange County Court on Friday to seven years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision in connection with his guilty plea to criminal possession of a weapon.

It was alleged that Anthony Scarry was seen on video in the City of Newburgh running away from an incident of shots fired in the area of Broadway and William Street.
Police were alerted to the incident by the ShotSpotter system.

Offices found no suspects at the scene but did recover shell casings.

Review of video footage helped nab Scarry.

“The unchecked illegal possession and use of guns endangers innocent members of our community,” said District Attorney David Hoovler.
