GOSHEN – The Orange County Legislature’s Personnel Committee Thursday gave its approval for a new five-year contract with its labor force represented by the CSEA.
The 2,300-member union will be getting a new five-year agreement when lawmakers hold their monthly session on Friday.
Committee Chairman Rob Sassi said the workers deserve the raise.
“In good times we can share the wealth a little bit more and in bad times we can’t. Fortunately, Orange County is in great financial shape and we are in a position to treat our well-deserving employees a little bit better,” he said.
All members of the legislature, Republicans and Democrats, are expected to vote for the new contract on Friday.
The union rank-and-file has “overwhelmingly” approved the pact, County Human Resources Commissioner Langdon Chapman said.
