MONTICELLO – Rochelle Massey, a former Monticello village trustee, is now the mayor of the Sullivan County Seat.
She took the oath of office Wednesday evening and said while the challenges facing the community will be many and difficult, she had her priorities, and her faith will guide her.
“Working with the youth, working with the mental health, and especially, keeping the workers working. It’s going to be difficult, and I know there is a God, and he will lead me the way,” she said.
Another significant challenge facing the village is its financial situation, which will have to be tackled.
Mayor Massey’s husband, Gordon Jenkins, who also served as mayor in the past, also serves presently as a village trustee.
