WALDEN – An Easter morning fire on Walnut Street in Walden is under investigation after firefighters from multiple departments spent nearly an hour getting the blaze stopped.  The two-alarm fire at 6:30 a.m. caused significant damage to the house but no injuries were reported.

When firefighters from the Walden Fire Department responded to the call Sunday morning, they found a two-and-one-half-story house on Walnut Street fully involved in fire.  A second alarm was requested to summon firefighters and apparatus from the Coldenham, Newburgh, Pine Bush, Wallkill and Orange Lake fire departments to the scene to assist in battling the fire.

It took approximately 30 minutes to get the bulk of the fire knocked down and just under an hour to get it fully extinguished.
Orange County fire officials were at the scene including two fire investigators.  An Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputy and his arson-trained K9 were also at the scene.
