GOSHEN – A 25-year-old Newburgh man has been indicted on charges connected to the commission of 13 felonies, including several counts of attempted murder.

Jesus Bravo was remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $300,000 cash bail, $1 million fully secured bond or $1.5 million in partially secured bond.

It is alleged that in the evening of September 21, 2023, Bravo and a co-defendant approached a victim in the City of Newburgh and asked if he was in a known gang.

The co-defendant pulled out a knife and Bravo encouraged him to use it. While the man was being stabbed in the arms, face and torso, it is alleged Bravo punched and kicked him.

In another incident, this one at 1:30 a.m. on December 11, 2023, Bravo allegedly punched a man in Newburgh and put what appeared to be a gun in his face. Bravo then approached the driver of vehicle, pointed a gun at him and ordered the driver to leave. Bravo then fled.

At 9:50 p.m. on the same day, Bravo and a co-defendant allegedly followed two men in Newburgh. Bravo fired a gun at one of the men, who ran away. The two perpetrators then approached the other victim and Bravo pistol whipped him while his co-defendant kicked him.

On December 30, 2023 at about 3 a.m., Newburgh Police were alerted to a ShotSpotter activation in the city that indicated shots had been fired. Responding officers found an SUV with eight bullet holes but no one was present.

Police later learned that a victim went to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the back. Surveillance video showed that Bravo fired the gun at the SUV after the co-defendant handed him the weapon.

District Attorney David Hoovler said the Non-Fatal Shooting Task Force investigated all of the incidents.
