YONKERS – A 17-year-old has been arrested and charged with the felony of leaving the of scene of an accident resulting in death in Yonkers.
The investigation found that the suspect and a 21-year-old man, identified as Jadon Bennett of Yonkers, had been involved in a verbal altercation over an online marketplace transaction.
The youth was sitting in a Mercedes-Benz at the time of the incident at 632 Van Cortlandt Park Avenue while the victim was standing outside and it was alleged that the suspect accelerated striking Bennett before fleeing the scene.
Bennett was taken to the hospital after the 4 p.m. crash on Monday, March 25, and later died.
The following day, the teen was located at an East Meadow residence and taken into custody.
His name was not released because of his age.
