NEWBURGH- Police are investigating a shooting that took place on Saturday at the Mullins Apartments located on Walsh Road in the City of Newburgh.
Yellow crime scene tape blocked off a playground in the complex shortly after 9 p.m. and there was a heavy police presence at the scene. Police could be seen searching the area for evidence with flashlights and were speaking with residents of the complex to gather information about the shooting.
City officials say that witness reported that two men, ages 16 and 17, were playing with guns and shot themselves. Both sustained non life threatening injuries to their extremities and were transported to St. Luke’s Hospital.
The Mullins Apartments is a public housing complex operated by the Newburgh Housing Authority. Residents of the complex said that it is typically a quiet community.
