POUGHKEEPSIE- Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino and Legislature Chairman Will Truitt will be hosting a free sensory-sensitive screening of ‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ – the first animated release of 2024 – on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the Roosevelt Cinemas (4060 Albany Post Road, Hyde Park, NY 12538). The movie will begin at 10:30 a.m., with the doors opening at 10 a.m. Registration is required at dutchessny.gov/movie by March 20th.
“Dutchess County is thrilled to be hosting another sensory friendly movie in Hyde Park so neighbors of all abilities can enjoy a fun-filled movie experience,” said Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino. “This free event aims to ensure all attendees are comfortable and can enjoy ‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ in a relaxing and supportive environment. I look forward to seeing this brand-new movie with so many of our neighbors!”
Dutchess County Legislature Chairman Will Truitt said, “I am thrilled to partner with County Executive Sue Serino and Roosevelt Cinemas to offer a sensory friendly movie event right here in our shared hometown. It is easy to take the simple joys in life such as a day at the movies for granted, but for so many families these kind of outings can prove daunting. We are pleased to offer a sensory friendly movie day that aims to accommodate families of all needs and abilities and make such a joyful outing accessible to everyone.”
The theater will adjust both the lighting and sound to make the experience more enjoyable for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities or who experience sensory sensitivities and will also include closed captioning.
Individuals, families and support agencies are all invited to this free event. Concessions will be available to purchase, and no outside food or drink is permitted.
Dutchess County’s ThinkDIFFERENTLY initiative aims to create a supportive and welcoming environment for those of all abilities.
