POUGHKEEPSIE – The City of Poughkeepsie has approved a new comprehensive plan and is continuing to work to update the corresponding zoning code amendments.

The city will hold a public meeting to obtain feedback from  5:30 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 6 at the Poughkeepsie Trolley Barn, at 489 Main Street on the proposed zoning changes.

The city has not updated its zoning on a citywide scale in 40 years and now intends to streamline the number of districts and modernize the regulations to address development trends. The city is working with planning consultants CZB and Ingalls Planning & Design on these efforts.

City officials have made some revisions to the initial draft of the zoning code based on public input, which included a meeting at the Family Partnership Center last fall.
