PAWLING – What organizers bill as “America’s Shortest Parade” took place in Pawling on Saturday. The 223-foot-long parade attracted hundreds of participants representing businesses, community groups, and elected officials. The marchers were matched by the number of people who turned out in droves to watch the parade as it came down Broad Street in the village.
The entire parade route begins on Broad Street and travels just over 200 feet to the intersection at Charles Colman Boulevard.
Marchers, float drivers, and attendees were celebrating as Pawling’s own Dave Gamache emceed the event, celebrating its tenth year, according to organizer Hernando Schaber, owner of Pawling Family Quick Stop and one of the inaugural marchers a decade ago.
