WASHINGTON – Congressman Pat Ryan (D, NY-18) delivered a virtual State of the Hudson Valley address late Thursday afternoon touching on accomplishments achieved for the nation and region last year.

In his 15-minute address, the former Ulster County executive talked about the cost of healthcare, housing, public safety, and what he called the mental health crisis.

The House member also talked about drugs and crime fighting, education and school shootings, clean water and the environment.

The Democratic lawmaker also addressed freedoms.

“Reproductive freedom; the freedom to marry who you love; the freedom to cast your ballot without unnecessary hurdles; the freedom to worship how you want; the freedom to make your voice heard in our democracy; the freedom to live as who you are, wherever you are,” he said.

Ryan also talked of regional accomplishments like keeping barges from parking on the Hudson River, a “historic $21.7 million grant” to revitalize the Kingston waterfront, and removing lead water pipes.
