MONTICELLO – Sullivan County District Attorney Brian Conaty has hired a crime analyst pursuant to the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) designation from the federal Office of National Drug Control Policy.
The DA did not name the individual hired for the post in January.
The analyst will facilitate data-driven investigations into narcotics and violent crimes through statistical and mapping tools and provide critical incident response support to develop leads and information.
The individual will be headquartered in the Hudson Valley Crime Analyst Center housed in the Orange Conty Emergency Services Center in Goshen and will work under the auspices of the Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office.
Conaty said the analyst “will provide law enforcement with the critical tools and information desperately needed to combat this opioid epidemic that has disproportionately affected our county.”
