Friday accident claims life of pedestrian in Fishkill

FISHKILL – A male pedestrian was killed Friday morning after being struck by a vehicle in Fishkill.  The accident occurred at approximately 6:24 a.m. at the intersection of Route 9 and Merritt Boulevard in Fishkill.  The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and was interviewed by law enforcement officials.

Dutchess County 911 had dispatched the report of a car versus pedestrian accident to Empress EMS, Rombout Fire Department, and Fishkill Police.  A fire chief from a neighboring district was in the area and responded to the scene in moments, along with EMS personnel from Empress.

The victim was transported to Montefiore St. Luke’s-Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh where he was pronounced dead, officials said.

The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
