POUGHKEEPSIE- Read the World:  Motivational Reading Program, a new program introduced to the Community Schools by the Growing Stemz Foundation in Poughkeepsie, NY was launched at Clinton Elementary School on January 25, 2024.

The purpose of the program is to get the fifth grade students excited about reading and increase their comprehension skills.   Read the World aims to prepare the students for a bright future.

In attendance were:  Assemblyman Jonathan Jacobson; Mayor Yvonne Flowers; Superintendent, Dr. Eric Rosser; Councilmember at Large, Da’Ron Wilson; Mrs. Natasha Brown, Executive Director of Community Schools; Elizabeth O’Raffity, CEO, Growing Stemz Foundation; Sheba Abrahaim, Program Director, Read the World: Motivational Reading Program; Dr. David Scott, Principal and Mrs. Da Vetta Price, Assistant Principal, Clinton Elementary School; Jannera Cruz, Heritage Financial Credit Union; Stacey N. Bottoms, Assistant to the Mayor.

Assemblyman Jacobson, Mayor Flowers and Dr. Rosser gave encouraging words to the students on reading and how it will positively impact their future. They wished them much success in the program. Mayor Flowers donated T Shirts to the participating students and Mrs. Natasha Brown donated the books for the program.
