KINGSTON – An 85-year-old Tucson, Arizona man has been indicted by an Ulster County grand jury in connection with an assisted suicide in a room at the Super 8 motel on Washington Avenue in the City of Kingston.

Stephen Miller was charged with two counts of assault and manslaughter in connection with another individual not related to him, the district attorney’s office reported on Monday.

The indictment arises out of an incident on November 9, 2023 during which an individual was found unresponsive by the cleaning staff at the motel.

It was determined the victim had died by means of assisted suicide.

The investigation found that Miller had traveled from Arizona and has been with the victim a short while before and at the time of death.

An investigation by Kingston Police and the district attorney’s office identified Miller.

He was arraigned and remanded in lieu of $500,000 bail.
