TOWN OF WAPPINGER – EMS personnel and Dutchess County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the county-owned Hudson Valley Regional Airport on Thursday evening for a report of a man who suffered a hand injury after coming into contact with an airplane propeller.  The 911 call at approximately 6 p.m. reported that the victim suffered a finger amputation after coming into contact with a propeller.

The injury was reported to have occurred on a taxiway at the former Dutchess County Airport.

The man, believed to be an employee at the airport, was transported by ambulance to MidHudson Regional Hospital for treatment of what officials described as a “finger amputation.”

A fixed-base operator (FBO) is a company granted the right by an airport to provide aeronautical services such as fueling, hangaring, tie-down and parking, aircraft rental, aircraft maintenance, flight instruction, and similar services.

FlightLevel Dutchess has been the FBO at the airport since 2015.   FlightLevel Dutchess describes itself as “a Full-Service FBO” offering ground services at Hudson Valley Regional Airport to both general and corporate aviation, including refueling, engine pre-heating, jump starts, and other services.

FlightLevel operates 10 airports according to its website.  At Hudson Valley Regional Airport, the company lists one station manager and indicates they maintain a ground crew of three personnel.

The FAA was notified of the incident and an investigation has been initiated.
