GOSHEN – Edward Holley, 43, was indicted on Monday for the 2003 murder of Megan McDonald.  Holley was first arrested in 2023 by the state police but was released from jail days later after the Orange County District Attorney failed to get an indictment within the mandatory six days.  The DA then recused himself from further proceedings citing a conflict, and a special prosecutor was named.

Julia Cornachio, an attorney with over 30 years’ experience as a prosecutor and who handled several homicide cases in the Bronx and Westchester DA’s office, was named special district attorney by Judge James McCarty. She is assisted by Laura Murphy, Esq., another experienced former prosecutor who has handled many homicide cases and was the chief of the Westchester DA’s Office Cold Case Bureau.

On Monday, Cornachio announced that Holley, who was an ex-boyfriend of victim McDonald, had been indicted by an Orange County Grand Jury on the charge of murder.  If convicted on the charge that alleges he bludgeoned McDonald to death, he could serve up to 25 years in prison.

Holley is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday before Orange County Court Judge Hyun Chin Kim.
