Fight at flop house results in arrests

POUGHKEEPSIE – City cops responded to a three-family house on Corlies Avenue late Tuesday afternoon for a report of a fight between two male subjects.  After a brief foot pursuit, several subjects were taken into custody for various offenses.

As police arrived at the house at the corner of Corlies Avenue and Maple Street, a male subject attempted to flee from the house on foot.  Officers gave chase and took the man into custody.  While the chase was taking place, additional officers observed a second male attempting to climb out of the window of the house.  He was also taken into custody.

Several officers responded to the house and began investigating the incident.  Police found approximately 17 people in the alleged “flop house” that had warrants.  One individual had an outstanding warrant from Texas, one subject had a warrant from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, One individual was wanted by the Town of Poughkeepsie police, and another had a warrant from the City of Poughkeepsie.

One individual was taken into custody after police discovered illegal drugs in is possession.
