State prisoners sentenced on Greene County charges

CATSKILL – Three state prisoners incarcerated in Greene County have been arrested and charged with additional crimes, county court reported.

Norman Venigas, 34, in Coxsackie Correctional Facility, pled guilty to attempted promoting prison contraband for being in possession of a makeshift shank-type weapon. He was sentenced to an additional 1 ½ to three years in prison.

Jaylon Kent, 22, also in Coxsackie Correctional, was sentenced to an additional 1 ½ to three years in prison for biting the finger of a corrections officer.

Xavier Garcia. 36, incarcerated in Greene Correctional Facility, was sentenced to 1 ½ to three years in prison for his conviction of attempting promoting prison contraband for possessing a makeshift shank sharpened at one end.

The additional sentences of all three men will be served consecutively to their current terms.
