POUGHKEEPSIE – A 25-year-old Philadelphia, Mississippi woman is being held in the Dutchess County Jail following her arrest as a fugitive from justice in connection with a homicide in her home state.

Stephanie Vance was located by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office in Pleasant Valley and taken into custody without incident on January 11.

Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark said Vance allegedly shot her live-in boyfriend, Christopher Bland, 35, to death with a 9mm handgun on March 3, 2023 following an argument.

They had lived together in a mobile home on Highway 16 West along with an eight-month-old child. The baby was turned over to child protective services, Clark said.

Vance was initially held without bail, but later bond was set at $100,000, which she secured through a bonding company.

She is being held pending extradition back to Mississippi.
