Hudson Valley cops to receive DOJ money owed

WASHINGTON – The US Justice Department has agreed to pay local Hudson Valley police agencies funds they expended while working with the feds to help curb illegal drug trafficking in the region.

Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer says the feds area set to deliver over $10 million owed local departments for their efforts.

“With this federal funding now on its way, these departments will no longer have to worry about strained budget,” Schumer said.

New Windsor Police are set to receive over $1.5 million. Woodbury Police, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and Yonkers Police will each receive over $1.3 million.

The Rockland County Sheriff’s Office will receive over $1.8 million. Orangetown Police will receive more than $1.6 million and Westchester Police will receive over $1.5 million.
