WHITE LAKE – Saturday’s forecast calls for cloudy skies and temperatures reaching about 19 degrees.

That’s a perfect day for the the second annual Sullivan County Polar Freeze for a Cure to raise money for Alzheimer’s disease.

Registration starts at 10 a.m. at the White Lake Firehouse before the whistle blows at noon and people can jump into the frigid water of White Lake.

Last year the polar plunge had 35 participants with over 100 spectators. A total of $14,000 was raised for research, said Sue Bunce.

She noted that while there is no cure for the disease, scientists believe they are getting close.
