Former law enforcement union officials sentenced for defrauding union annuity fund

WHITE PLAINS – Two officials of the Law Enforcement Employees Benevolent Association, a labor union representing officers employed by the City of New York and a former financial advisor for the union were sentenced in federal court to prison for defrauding union members by misappropriating money from the organization’s annuity fund.

Kenneth Wynder, Jr., 60, of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, a former state trooper and president of the union, was sentenced to 40 months behind bars.

Andrew Brown, 56, of Putnam Valley, was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Wynder must also forfeit $529,000 and pay over $838,000 in restitution.

Brown was ordered to forfeit over $3,000 and pay $529,000 in restitution.

A third defendant, former treasurer Steven Whittick, 54, of Kingston, was sentenced over two years ago to 28 months in prison and ordered to pay restitution of over $179,000.
