KINGSTON – A 40-year-old Saugerties man who about to go on trial in Ulster County Court this week pled guilty to burglary just before jury selection was about to begin.

The conviction of Frederick Pilz stemmed from his going to a residence in the Town of Marbletown on February 16, 2023 and stealing a television.

He had been there the day before performing work for which he was hired.

Four days later, on February 20, 2023 he went to his employer’s business and stole tools. His boss called the police the next day when he noticed his business had been broken into and cash was missing.

The conviction stemmed from the investigatory work of Ulster County Sheriff’s detectives and the State Police.

At the time, Pilz was wearing an ankle monitor and was being supervised by the Greene County Probation Department after being released to pre-trial supervision for a pending burglary in Greene County.

Pilz will be sentenced as a predicate violent felony offender having been previously convicted of burglary in 2012 and convicted of felony drug sales in 2010.
