TOWN OF WALLKILL – The once embattled Wallkill Town Police Department is receiving state accreditation for its accomplishments and advancements.
Town Supervisor George Serrano said it is a major milestone for the department and its efforts in protecting the community.
“Being accredited when you look at the history of the Town of Wallkill, it’s a long step and it’s good for our law enforcement. It’s good for our residents to see where they live that they have their public safety, because that is big. Public safety is one of the biggest things that we have going on now,” he said.
While the official announcement has yet to be made in Albany, Serrano said the 18-month process is to the cred of Police Chief Robert Hertman and members of the department.
