NEWBURGH – The Newburgh Free Academy campuses opened three hours late on Thursday after the school district received an “unverified threat” Wednesday night mentioning the high school, district officials wrote on social media.

The delay allowed local police time to investigate the matter.

All other school buildings in the Enlarged Newburgh City School District opened on their normal schedules.
