NYACK – Montefiore Nyack Hospital nurses have ratified a new contract, the last of three Lower Hudson Valley hospitals to reach agreements with the New York State Nurses Association.

Nurses in Montefiore Nyack, New Rochelle and Mount Vernon made “historic gains,” the union said, including safe staffing ratios, strengthening enforcement language and wage increases.

“Montefiore Lower Hudson Valley nurses worked together for the first time to win great contracts for nurses and patients, and they delivered,” said nurses’ union President Nancy Hagans. “These record-setting contracts stand as a testament to our nurses’ resolve after months of challenging negotiations. This is an example of the power we hold in solidarity as nurses and healthcare professionals committed to delivering the quality care every community deserves.”

Approximately 96 percent of the nurses at all three hospitals voted to authorize a strike at all three hospitals if no contract was settled by the end of 2023.
