PUTNAM COUNTY- Get ready for an exciting and enriching experience as Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) Putnam County proudly announces its Winter Farmer Lunchtime Series.  Designed for both seasoned professionals and those just starting in the agricultural journey, this series promises fresh insights and hands-on solutions to tackle the challenges of modern farming.

January 4th – Growing Small Fruits

Join the remarkable Laura McDermot as she delves into the world of small fruits, focusing on blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries.  Gain invaluable insights into site and plant selection, pruning techniques, weed control, fertility management, and labor-saving methodologies.

January 11th – Agroforestry Basics (Fruit-Bearing Trees and Forest Floor Crops)

Discover the essentials of agroforestry with the dynamic duo of Jen Lerner from CCE Putnam and Jess Alba, Watershed Forest Stewardship Educator.  Explore topics such as perennial forest floor crops, fruit-bearing trees, My Woodlot, and WAC resources and funding opportunities.

January 18th – Beginner Sheep and Goats!

Livestock Educator Kathryn Brignac (CCE Ulster) will guide beginners through considerations for raising sheep and goats.  Topics include infrastructure needs, forages, and management basics for health and lambing/kidding.
