State grants announced for affordable homeownership

ALBANY – A total of 10 state grants have been awarded for housing in the Hudson Valley to help low-and moderate-income families make repairs or safety improvements to their homes, replace manufactured homes, and provide down payment assistance for first-time buyers.

The 10 grants in the Hudson Valley are for agencies in Rockland, Dutchess, Putnam, Orange and Ulster counties.

Mid-Hudson HOME Rockland Housing Action Coalition, Inc. Tenant Based Rental Assistance $600,000
Mid-Hudson Access to Home for Heroes Rockland Independent Living Center, Inc. d/b/a BRIDGES Accessibility Modifications for Veterans $300,000

The grants, administered by New York State Homes and Community Renewal’s Office of Community Renewal – were awarded to nonprofit organizations and localities to help preserve affordable housing, support veterans and older New Yorkers, increase access to homeownership, and strengthen local economies.
