CITY OF HUDSON – A 39-year-old Pine Plains man has been committed to the Columbia County Jail on bail for allegedly pilfering over $85,000 from a victim while he worked as an independent contractor for their family business.

Ryan Winters was charged on an active felony warrant with one count of grant larceny, 10 counts of forgery and possession of a forged instrument, all as felonies.

He was remanded on $5,000 cash bail, $10,000 bond or $15,000 secured bond.

The arrest on December 23 stems from an incident reported on October 14 when the victim told Hudson City Police that a substantial sum of money was stolen from his company bank account without his knowledge.

The thefts spanned from November 15, 2022 through October 6, 2023.

Winters reportedly forged several checks from the victim’s bank account and made several unauthorized credit card purchases.

He was arrested by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office in the Town of Greenport and transferred to Hudson City Police for processing.
