PINE ISLAND – Warwick Town Police are continuing their investigation into a man’s body found in a drainage ditch on Tuesday, December 26.

The victim, believed to be in his mid-30s, was found partially submerged in the ditch along County Route 1.

Police Chief John Rader said an autopsy was conducted on Wednesday by the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office with the exact cause of death undetermined pending toxicology results.

The chief said there were no signs of trauma that would have indicated that the man was struck by a vehicle.

It is believed he was last seen on Saturday, December 16, Rader said.

Warwick detectives are continuing interviews and putting a timeline together of his final hours as well as a positive identification.

The chief said there is nothing suspicious at this time.
