MONTICELLO – Sullivan County District Attorney Brian Conaty begins the new year in his first full term as the county’s chief prosecutor and targeting the opioid epidemic continues to be his top priority.

That, said Conaty, is a three-prong approach of vigorous prosecutions, warrant searches to remove drugs off the streets, and working with the Hope Not Handcuffs program to help rehabilitate substance users.

“They are doing an excellent job working with both this office as well as county officials and they are definitely increasing their numbers and are hoping to expand the initiative into multiple jurisdictions across Sullivan County,” he said.

Conaty, who was chief assistant DA, became acting district attorney this time last year when former DA Megan Galligan was elected as a county court judge.
