Man stabbed in road rage incident; suspect arrested

TOWN OF WALLKILL – One man was stabbed and another arrested following an altercation after a collision on Route 211 near the ramp of Route 17 eastbound in the Town of Wallkill.

The incident occurred around 1:25 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20.

State Police said the confrontation occurred between Jahri Evans, and Marqui Johnson, both 24 and from the Town of Wallkill, got out of their vehicles and a physical altercation ensued.

During the fight, Evans allegedly assaulted Johnson with a large knife causing lacerations to Johnson.

Evans fled the area in his vehicle and was later stopped on Interstate 84 westbound in the Town of Wawayanda where he was taken into custody without incident.

Johnson was transported to Garnet Health Medical Center in Wallkill where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Evans was charged with armed assault, criminal possession of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence, and menacing.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond.
