POUGHKEEPSIE – District Attorney-elect Anthony Parisi has selected Michael Brady to serve as Dutchess County Chief Assistant District Attorney.  Brady previously served as an Assistant County Public Defender before he transitioned to the prosecution side of the courtroom as a Senior Assistant District Attorney.  Brady had left the DA’s office to become the Principal Law Clerk to Dutchess County Court Judge Jessica Segal.

Brady’s experience is split evenly with eight years of service at the public defender’s office and eight years in the DA’s office.  He has been the law clerk for Judge Segal since 2021.  His legal knowledge and experience also include time as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Poughkeepsie as well as time as a private criminal defense attorney.

“It is imperative to bring the right people into the DA’s office as we move toward a new era in the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office; one of improvement, collaboration, efficiency, justice, and fairness,” Parisi said.

Brady is married to attorney Kelly Brady, a partner at Brooke Brady & Schopfer, and the two have a daughter.  “I am honored and enthusiastic to return to the DA’s office under DA Parisi’s leadership,” he said.  “I fully support and join in his focus on public safety, accountability, integrity, transparency, and the modernization of the DA’s office.”  Brady noted his willingness to work with Parisi in the implementation of “intelligence-led policing and prosecution in the county in order to “combat crime effectively and efficiently, while simultaneously building trust between law enforcement and the communities we serve.”

Brady will begin work in his new role during the first week of January.
