WASHINGTON – Christmas is a week away, but Congressman Pat Ryan (D, NY-18)delivered an early present to two Orange County communities.

Nearly $600,000 has been secured for safe streets in the Village of Warwick and Town of Goshen.

Warwick will receive $406,167 for a comprehensive, town-wide  safe streets plan and public awareness campaign and Goshen will receive $191,180 to begin developing a safe streets plan.

The grants were funded by the bipartisan infrastructure law and administered by the Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets and Roads for All grants program.

Warwick will use its money to develop a complete safe streets program and pilot a Slow Down Warwick campaign that will use low-cost, high-impact strategies.

Goshen will use its funding to develop a comprehensive safety plan with specific focus on reducing traffic congestion and collisions at the entry to Legoland.

“Safer, more accessible and sustainable transportation is transformative for entire communities – from getting kids to school safely, to helping small businesses grow, to creating jobs,” said Ryan.
