NEWBURGH – Over a dozen shots were fired in the area of Liberty and South Streets in the City of Newburgh at around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
One person was shot and made it to the hospital.
Police rushed to the scene not far from two churches as detectives placed numbered markers next to bullet casings on the street, which was blocked off during the investigation.
This incident occurred days after Police Commissioner Jose Gomerez told the city council that bullet-to-body shootings had declined in recent years.
