LIVINGSTON MANOR- Livingston Manor High School senior Jillian Carlson says she and her classmates consider it a privilege to have a school resource officer they consider a friend, and because of the strong relationship he shares with the students at the school, Sullivan County Sheriff Deputy Jason Beebe has been recognized by two organizations for his service.  Beebe has been recognized by both the New York State Juvenile Police Officer’s Association and the Sullivan County School Board’s Association for his work.

“His personality, his approachableness for kids and parents, and how he has just seamlessly has meshed with the staff are the reasons we fully supported Jason’s nominations for those awards,” said John Evans, Superintendent of Schools.

Beebe was surprised that he was selected for the two honors.  He said that the recognition came at the right time, because he was at a point in his career where he was considering whether he should continue policework in the schools, or seek a different assignment within the department.

“I think it came at the right time,” said Beebe.  “I was at a point where I was starting to question if this is where I need to be with our department, if being in the schools was the right spot for me.  It was getting to a point where I am like am I the right spot, and that all brought it together.  It was affirmation that I was where I need to be right now in my career,” he said.

“It would be good to stick around in the school, if he can, so that more students can develop a relationship with him,” concluded Carlsen.
