MIDDLETOWN – The unofficial start of the holiday shopping season is underway as Black Friday means stores offer special deals on everything mom, dad and the kids would want for Christmas.

The line of cars to get into the Woodbury Common Factory Outlet mall Friday morning stretched for what seemed like mile.

Parking lots at Woodbury Common were filled to capacity by mid-day so police blocked off the entrances.

Other malls and local stores were also crowded with holiday shoppers.

The hot items once again this year appear to be wide screen TVs, notepads, cell phones and electronic games. Then, of course there is staples of clothing.

Online shopping continues to have an impact on in-store shopping experience. That will be felt on this coming Monday, dubbed Cyber Monday when online purchases spike.
