POUGHKEEPSIE – Four people were arrested following gunfire across from Poughkeepsie City Hall just before 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Police officers found no gunshot victims but did see property damage and were told that a vehicle had fled the scene.

State Senator Rob Rolison had just exited Morse Elementary School a block away and heard five gunshots.  The police department’s gunshot locating system also recorded the incident.

Several sources have told Mid-Hudson News that the gunfire was the result of an incident that took place earlier Tuesday in city court.

Following investigation, police arrested Corey Latimer, Jr., 23, and Josiah Mallory, 20, both of the City of Poughkeepsie and both were charged with criminal possession of a firearm.

Brandon Mima, Jr., 20, of Beacon, was charged with criminal contempt, grand larceny, criminal mischief and disobeying a court mandate.

An underage youth was charged in an unrelated incident for unlawful possession of a weapon by a person under 16. He was arraigned and remanded to a juvenile detention facility.

Poughkeepsie Police were assisted during the incident by several other law enforcement agencies.
