GOSHEN – Goshen Village Police have arrested a 71-year-old Goshen man on a charge of possessing a sexual performance by a child.

Under the state’s 2019 bail reform laws, James Harris was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the local court at a later date.

Harris was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly trading child pornography online.

His activity was flagged by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office Digital Forensics Unit through the use of specialized investigative techniques that identified the transfer of the files.

Once the DA’s office identified the activity, they worked with Goshen Police to locate the source of the material.

Armed with a search warrant, police seized cell phones, tablets and computers from his home that were found to contain child pornography.

The Digital Forensics Unit was created this past July.

Police ask anyone with information about this case or any other relevant information about Harris to call Goshen Village Police at 845-294-7988.
