WHITE PLAINS – A 62-year-old Port Jervis man who was an occupational therapist at a school in Oceanside from September 1998, was arrested by federal authorities on charges of sexual exploitation of a child and receipt and distribution of child pornography.

It is alleged that Michael Meyers used an online app to receive sexually explicit pictures from a minor.

“The fact that Meyers was employed in a school makes this alleged crime even more horrific,” said FBI Assistant Director James Smith. “Both the bad guys and the American public need to know the FBI is committed to protecting the most vulnerable members of our society, and anyone attempting to sexually exploit a child can expect to end up in handcuffs and face serious punishment in the criminal justice system.”

If convicted, Meyers could face between 15 and 30 years in federal prison.
